Meet Liten Häst Bakehouse—a Scandinavian-inspired bakery coming soon to Montclair, New Jersey; founded by Linn Johansen, a Culinary Institute of America graduate and Montclair native with a deep love for baking and her Nordic roots. Liten Häst Bakehouse is a heartfelt tribute to the grandparents who shaped her world through food, family, and Scandinavian culture.

Liten Häst (“Little Horse” in Swedish) is named after the iconic dalahäst—a traditional hand-painted wooden horse from Dalarna, just miles from where Linn’s grandfather grew up in Leksand. The Dalahäst embodies the spirit of the bakery: rooted in heritage, handcrafted with care and rich in meaning.

Liten Häst aims to bring the cozy tradition of fika to Montclair—a daily pause to sip coffee and enjoy something sweet. It’s a moment of calm and connection, all about slowing down and socializing. A place where Scandinavian pastries are reimagined with modern flair and customers can take a breath, recharge, and savor the small joys in life.
